The Habs truly have an opportunity to do something right. Having Serge Savard in place is a great start. This decision will set the course for The Canadiens organisation for the next decade...the last rebuild fell short. I'm not sure I can stomach another one...

I think the Habs should be more interested in the best man for the job and not the best Bilingual man for the job....their arrogance trumps the leafs at times.

It's not about being arrogant, it has nothing to do with that. It's about knowing the market you are in.

Personally, I don't really care, but I get why that's important to some people. Then again, I don't see why they wouldn't find a competent guy that speaks both languages.

Apparently, the Habs have asked permission to speak with Jim Nill. Whatever comes of that, I doubt he leaves the Wings, regardless.

It's not about being arrogant, it has nothing to do with that. It's about knowing the market you are in.

Savard came out and said it - he said the next GM will absolutely be French, not even French speaking, he said French. As in Québécois.

All this other poop like Hextall and Nill is just to make it look like the Habs went out to get the best guy, and after already eliminating those that are not French before the process even began, they can say the guy they picked is the best, because they talked to everyone, and it just so happens he is also Québécois!

The Habs are doing this privately, it's the media who are speculating and god knows with the Habs out of the playoffs, they don't have much to talk about in MTL.

The Habs will talk to a bunch of guys with different backgrounds, it's up to Molson and Savard to find the best guy they think will do the job. That guy will surround himself with one or most likely a few Assistant GM's to help him.


Let's wait and see who they come up with as their candidate before people start poopting on them. You'll have plenty of times to female dog over the next few years...take it easy until they actually name the GM and his team.

You get the best guys, see who fits the mold, and if things are fairly even between candidates, THEN you look at differentiators like language, etc...

You don't remove guys out of the process before it even begins for some stupid outdated idea.
